Holy Sh*t

My Dad told me today that for my birthday he’s going to cut up the last cheque I gave him to pay off the money I owed him for university. Which means that I’ll be 100% debt free in two weeks. Holy sh*t. This will be the first time I’ve been debt free for years. I’ve been so focused on debt repayment I haven’t really thought much about what I would do next.

What do I do next?

    1. That’s the plan, in short. I want to top up my emergency fund and then start saving for retirement more aggressively. Problem is that I’ve never had money to invest before, so I don’t know where to start with that.

      1. I will be covering the basics of investing by the end of this year. In the meantime, if you are employed, take advantage of the plan your employer offers first and if they don’t offer one I would strongly consider a Roth IRA to get started. 🙂
